State Aid to Localities

The Local Aid Database is not available, please check back at a later time.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Local Aid Database

Reports for Members of the House of Delegates may be accessed using two methods:

  1. Select by District:
Use this report to see the state aid provided to each individual locality in your district.
  2. Select by Name:
Use this report for a summary of all state aid provided to the localities in your district.

The Local Aid Database creates reports on the state aid provided to individual localities by House of Delegates district number or by House of Delegates member name.

If you are unsure of your district number or Delegate's name, you can find that information by going to the "Who's My Legislator" page on the General Assembly's website.

Information in the reports includes selected General Fund spending such as K-12 Education Payments; Constitutional Officer, Public Safety and Human Services spending and miscellaneous distributions including ABC Profits, Recordation Taxes and Car Tax Reimbursements.

Notes:

  • Figures may not add due to rounding. State aid to the towns located within counties has been added to the state aid figures for those counties.

  • The source of the data for fiscal years 2002 through 2006 is the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting System. Projected state aid payments for fiscal years 2007 and FY 2008 have been provided by state agencies.

  • Not all categories of state aid are applicable to all localities.  In most instances, a descriptor has been added to explain the reason. For instance,

    • "Regional Jail" is used for those localities that do not receive jail per diems.
    • "Multi-Jurisdiction" is used for those services provided by a county to a smaller city.
    • "Not Applicable" is used for rolling stock (railroad) taxes and Tennessee Valley Authority payments for which only certain localities will receive payments.

  • This database is maintained by the House Appropriations Committee. Assistance with the use of the database can be obtained by calling Paul Van Lenten at (804) 698-1593.
